Due to maintenance we have unfortunately had to temporarily close some of the bouldering areas in the arena. But don't worry, this doesn't need to interrupt your routine, the 'bouldering room' is fully open and running as usual. We apologise for any inconvenience and hope to resume to normal service as soon as possible.

Many thanks for your patience

Customer Notice,

Your message indicates that not all arena bouldering areas are "temporarily closed",which are open? When are the bouldering areas expecteds to open. I intended to do some bouldering this evening (6.30) on the arena "beginners" boulder

Rik

in case you didn't make it last night, the "easy" boulder is completely shut, part of the "intermediate" boulder and part of the "advanced" boulder are open but that's it. the bouldering room is still open and full of the usual climbing geniuses.

didn't seem as cold in there last night as last week either

Couple of questions guys...

Any idea when the boulder mat cover is going to arrive / be fitted?

is it possible to maybe get a couple of the mats put on the floor somewhere so us less supple types have somewhere comfy to sit while doing up our shoelaces?

and most importantly
is anyone feeding the ratho robin?  Grin

As the arena is now warming rapidly (3 degrees yesterday), is there any sign of these new mats coming?

We would like to apologise again for the inconvenience caused by some bouldering areas being closed in the Arena. The new mats should be complete by the end of January. In the meantime the bouldering room is open as usual. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call a member of our climbing staff on 0131 333 6333.

Many thanks for you patience,

The EICA team.

Apologies this has taken longer than expected. We have been advised by our supplier that they should hopefully be delivered by the end of the week. Will keep you updated as soon as they arrive.

Many thanks again for your patience.

Do you not think more than an apology is in need for people who pay £50 per month for which some of the facilities have not been available for use for some time? Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

I dont thinks so greig.  The matting covers are one of a kind, and obviously they were hard to come by.  The boulders were closed as the matting had become unsafe, and I think their closure was a small sacrafice to make in order to have safer bouldering from now on.  I thought it was great that just after the boulders closed, the whole bouldering room was revamped and the problems were kept more up to date to compensate for the closure of the boulders.  All leisure facilities have to undergo essential maintainance at some point, and it seems like everything possible was done to reopen the bouldering facility as soon as possible.  it was also too cold to boulder in the arena for the last few months anyway, the warmth of the bouldering room was lovely!

All new mats have now been delivered and fitted to the boulders in the Arena, with services back to normal. We apologise for any inconvenience. Due to the specialist nature of the mats, we had to wait for them to be delivered, and tried to offer alternatives during this time.

Many thanks for your patience.
