Could i suggest that all that was required on your obvious first dissapointment that the venue was going to be closed for a few days that rather than put your initial thoughts on impulse on the forum was to mull it over for a period of time and then rationilise your thoughts, human nature is such that we all tend to act on impulse and then regret ensueing actions. Yeah, you're absolutely right. My impulse control is probably on par with that of the average four year old. It was a mistake to make that post. Would like to meet up with you sometime in the arena for a climb (assuming you do not mind climbing with a begginner/intermediate climber like myself) Sure thing, dude. I'm in every Tuesday and Thursday. Look for the guy in a black T-shirt repeatedly falling off the green problem on the barrel boulder. ![]() |

Morag/Chris,
Based on Morag's comment about you managing to climb a route recently with one hand behind your back may'be i was a little haste on my challenge relating to the 6a climb. I believe that I should now pick the route and the route of my choice is the "tower" black 6a route ![]() RIK |

GURUMED,
Your quote "It seems that the only thing weaker than my fingers are my communication skills!". My observation based on the communication relating to this topic would suggest that your communication skills are O.K. Hello Rik
I was just about to post a note asking if you/others would be climibing on Friday 3rd - pipped me to the post. I'll be there 7ish as usual. It would be good to see you Chris if you are there - I remember you managed a climb with one arm behind your back the last time we met so there is nothing stopping you ...... Rik - I still need to have a chat with you about lead climbing before I make any commitments! See you tomorrow Morag |

Contept (a feeling or attitude of regarding someone or something as inferior, base, or worthless) is a fairly harsh term to use to describe myself and my colleagues, I thought I had always been quite respectful when giving you beta on those boulder problems! ![]() It seems that the only thing weaker than my fingers are my communication skills! I really like everyone at the centre (even Robbie when he sets problems that I can't do ). No one has ever been rude to me at Ratho. I'd attempt to clarify my meaning, but I've already dug myself into a deep enough hole. Please keep in mind the history of the centre (which I would be more than happy to give you next time you're in) when making reference to inconveniences. There have been many times in the past when it looked as though the centre would shut permentantly and hosting comps is a step in the right direction when it comes to securing a positive future for the centre (and yes, I do appreciate that members contribute hugely to the successful running also). Surely a small price to pay in comparison to the alternative, no? If you say the competition keeps the centre open, then fair enough. I can only get this wound up because I love the place. Weathers looking awsome at the moment so get yourself down to Northumberland! You're cranking out V4's on the barrel boulder so you'd rip it up down there! (or hire me for the day to give you the guided tour) ![]() That's damn temping, dude. I've always wanted to go there, and with my people skills hiring a guide might be the only way. Heh. |

Hi Rik,
I may come on over on Friday. I still won't be able to belay with the busted arm, going up would work but coming back down could be a problem. I will give it a try but its your ass on the line, as long as you don't land on me when you crash to the ground. Ha Ha Ha ![]() Later Chris |
